WE ARE THE FLOOD, a platform of MUSE Science
Museum Trento conceived and curated by Stefano Cagol on
the climate crisis and
anthropocene interactions, is pleased to announce a new
two-day masterclass
featuring scientific poetry, which pursues and
stimulates multidisciplinarity
and contamination in looking at ecological issues,
balance between human beings
and the environment, science and the future.
Curated by Alessandro Castiglioni,
member of the board of research advisors of WE ARE THE
FLOOD, the masterclass
will be dedicated to the relationship between
narratives, poetry, science and
contemporary art.Introduced by
the book “Teorie dei Climi”
(Castiglioni, Postmedia 2023), it will delve into
the work of Franco Buffoni,
author of “Betelgeuse e altre poesie scientifiche”
(Mondadori 2021) and
Antonella Anedda, author of “Geografie” (Garzanti,
2021).The
lessons will be held in seminar mode, alternating
moments of dialogue, poetic
readings and critical readings starting from the
three texts cited.
Participation in the masterclass is
reserved for participants selected through an open call.Artists,
creatives,
critics and curators under 35 of any nationality are
eligible for
this call.Those who have
already taken part in any WE ARE THE
FLOOD initiative cannot participate.A contribution to expenses is
foreseen for those who will participate from outside
the province.The
masterclass will be held in Italian from the
afternoon of October 28th to the
evening of October 29th.
MUSE, one
of the most visited museums in Italy, plays an important role in
the communication and dissemination of environmental as well as
scientific culture. In recent years it has developed an
Anthropocene think tank and has often tackled contemporary art
languages, even receiving an award from the Italian Council (9th
edition). This outpost position is now consolidated with WE ARE
THE FLOOD, which stems from current urgencies and the
inescapable need to probe and decode increasingly complex
environmental, viral and climatic issues through contemporary
art, and aspires to root a shared we to create a new awareness
of today and imagine different ways of existence.
